Design Your Own?

In simple terms, Premierack racking consists of just two components - upright frames and beams.
By following a few basic guidelines (see below) ordering the correct components to build a safe and efficient pallet racking installation up to 6000mm is easy. Please contact us if you require an installation higher than 6000mm.
Choosing the correct beam length and frame depth
The size of the pallet and its load determine which beam length and frame to order:-
Pallet Dimensions (No load overhang) Beam length Frame depth
1000w x 1200d (2 per beam) 2250mm 1100mm
1200w x 1000d (2 per beam) 2700mm 900mm
800w x 1200d (2 per beam) 1875mm 1100mm
800w x 1200d (3 per beam) 2700mm 1100mm
Note: Avoid storing pallets of different sizes and types. However non-standard pallets could be stored on slave pallets of correct grade or, in some cases, on the floor.

Choosing the correct frame height

The height of your building and / or lift height of your fork truck together with the number of pallets to be stored in the height will determine the maximum frame that you need to order.
When calculating the space between the beam levels, remember to allow for clearance when lifting the load off the beam. You may also need a beam at ground level if your truck has straddle legs. (If in doubt give us a call).
The maximum 1st beam level with open beams is 1800mm, and with box and step beams 2300mm. If either the height to the first beam level or any spacing between levels thereafter exceeds 2300mm, please contact us for technical advice.

Choosing the correct beam capacity

The weight of the load including the pallet determines the beam capacity required. All of the capacities quoted are for uniformly distributed safe working loads (U.D.S.W.L). In this case UDSWL means that the load must be supported by 80% or more of the beam's length. Contact us if you have unusual loads or require technical advice.
Open and box beams - Can be used for a wide variety of storage applications. All beams possess a 5-hook connector with stiffening ribs and rolled edges to ensure maximum stability and are supplied with safety locking pins to prevent accidental dislodgement.
Step beams - These are selected where flush fitting shelves are required and are particularly suited to non-palletised loads. Step beams can be used with chipboard and steel decking.

Accessories

Row Ties - Are used to connect adjoining rows of frames. The aim of these ties is to provide strength and uniformity throughout the structure. Wall Ties - are used to tie racks to walls or structural members. They provide strength and uniformity throughout the structure.
Drum Stops - fit over the front and rear beams to positively locate drums or barrels and are available to suit all Premier rack box beams. Pallet Supports - are located in pairs over the top of box beams and provide a secondary support to weak pallets. They are also available with an upturn to retain chipboard.
Fork Spacers - are raised supports which allow the deposit and retrieval of flat unit loads using a forklift truck. Pallet Skid Channels - are used in pairs between beams to provide guidance for containers with legs or feet. The post pallet feet are located in the skid channels directly over the pallet racking beams.
Rack Sentry Upright Guards - a semi-flexible plastic channel which is available in a bright safety yellow and secured to the upright by means of Velcro straps. Floor Mounted Upright Guards - a standard metal upright protector supplied in two parts and bolted together on site. Floor fixing bolts are included.
Corner Protector - formed from a single piece of steel, this corner protector can be positioned at the end of runs to protect the base of the frame. Floor fixing bolts are included. Drop over Deck Panels - are lightweight deck panels used with box beams. Designed to be used for hand loaded shelving only.
Cross Channel Shelves - 152mm wide fit between step beams to provide a level loading platform. Coil Cradles - span pairs of box beams to support unit loads such as wire or steel coils.
Timber Slatted Shelves - provide a strong and resilient shelf for heavy duty applications. The shelves are available to suit all types of racking, and both box and step beams. Closed Timber Decking - are supplied where a high load capacity is required. They provide a flush surface enabling heavy goods to be moved easily on the shelf surface.
Chipboard Shelves - general purpose shelf for light to medium duty applications. Can be supplied with locating battens for use on box beams or packing strips to provide a flush fit on step beams
Shelves are available in a variety of materials to suit all types of racking. These include melamine faced chipboard where a wipeable, hygienic surface is required. MDF to provide a smooth shelf surface or plywood where there is a risk of high impact or point loads.
Finishes: All accessories within the Premierack range are either galvatite or powder coated. Both finishes give extended life and product uniformity. The powder coating provides chemical and chip resistance. Applied electrostatically, the coating is uniform across the range and the colours meet European standards.
Frame uprights are finished in RAL 5010 blue beams are finished in RAL 2003 orange

Premierack Wide Aisle Adjustable Racking. With fully adjustable beam levels to suit varying pallet heights, this system gives 100% access to each individual pallet. Aisles are designed for use by different types of trucks and are wide enough to allow full maneuverability.

Premierack Double Deep Racking. When space is at a premium, the use of Double Deep can reduce by 50% the number of aisles required with a wide aisle application. This system enables a far more effective utilization of available space.

Premierack Narrow Aisle Racking. Narrow aisle allows access to each individual pallet whilst retaining full system adjustability. It offers the same flexibility found with wide aisle, but increases storage capacity by reducing aisle width and storing pallets to a greater height. Another benefit is that a good speed of throughput is maintained.

Premierack Drive In / Drive Through Racking. Allows high density storage for installations with a low number of product lines without requiring the use of specialist equipment. It is also particularly suited to cold or chill store environments.

Premierack Push Back Racking. This system offers a higher density occupancy rate than any other high density application. It gives fast throughput without the need for specialized forklift trucks.

Premierack Pallet Live Storage. With no specialist handling equipment required, pallet live storage provides first in first out automatic stock rotation whilst achieving good space utilization

Premierack Mobile Racking. Offering the best space utilization available mobile racking gives a high density APR storage system with an aisle which moves to create access where needed. Individual pallets are available without the need for specialist equipment. Mobile racking has the potential for high occupancy rates.

Premierack Multi-Tier Racking. Excellent for hand picking operations in a high density environment. The uprights support not only the shelving but also walkways. Forklift trucks and incline belt conveyors can be used to load or retrieve goods from higher levels.

The demands of the workplace are unique in each individual company. Each of the systems featured above shows different applications to which Premierack is suited.
