Having
responded to an email marketing campaign Harlow
Foodbank approached TS to supply and fit some shelving
to their new flagship Foodbank.
The
foodbank is a ground-breaking concept designed to help individuals
and families in crisis by providing free emergency food until
the appropriate agencies are in a position to assist. Their
aim is to engage with communities, introducing sustainable
projects that enable marginalised people to break through
their cycle of poverty. Tinned and dried food is collected
from the public at supermarkets, churches, schools and other
local groups and "banked" in a warehouse. Food is then given
to people in crisis as a result of referrals from registered
care professionals such as Social Services, Health Visitors,
and other carers working in the front line.
Having
roots in the town, Our Managing Director Steve Swallow, provided
our Kwikspan longspan shelving to fit out the former Harlow
School.
The
installation was carried out by Steve personally prior to
the opening of the foodbank - Yes our MD gets his hands dirty!
We
are pleased to have been involved in such a project, especially
having roots and links to the town, and we wish all at the
Harlow foodbank the very best with their new operation.
